Where Are The Jobs!?

Is it me or are jobs just getting harder and harder to find. Seems you have to have experience to go to a temporary agency now. Pretty sure they are the ones that are supposed to help new people in the work force find jobs in the first place.

Anyhow, to prove a point I dropped an application in at 10 different fast food restaurants and did the basic pestering to try to get hired, yet still I get no call or anything. I hope it isn’t like this everywhere. It really worries me since I’ll be going to college in the spring and I have no place to go to find a job and help out my parents, sister, and girlfriend, who all currently live in the same house as me.

If there’s one thing that can really down a person’s spirit, it would be to feel like a bum, and right now when money is tight and the only person working is my father, it looks bad on me. I’m fairly certain there are plenty of people out there who can relate to my current situation(A rock and a hard place.) Times are getting hard, and probably going to get harder.

How are people going to enjoy quality of life if the government keeps sending us into recession/depressions with these ignorant decisions. I think I’m gonna go Canadian, ;) . Lol.

  1. Finding a good job can be pretty troublesome. Especially when you have high expectations.

Here are some tips that helped me land the job of my dreams:

    * You need to have a professional written resume. If you are not an expert, you could consider hiring one.
    * Think about all the jobs you are qualified for. This may lead to discovering additional jobs you could land.
    * Look for jobs in every possible source : internet, newspaper, radio and other media. Ask your friends that have similar jobs if there may be an opening in their company.
    * You need to be proactive about this. Don’t just email them, make sure to call the HR department to have them confirm your resume.

Finding a job is pretty much a job in itself and it’s all about how well can you market your abilities.

  2. Hey,

Finding a job in this economy is a very tough thing to do. There are some businesses that are thriving right now though, like Walmart. I work at the Algood store, and we’re hiring right now. I started there this time last year as a temp for the holiday season, and not even 6 months after I started, I became a full time department manager. I was hired on as a part time employee 30 days after I started. The pay isn’t to bad, and heck, it’s a job that pays the bills.

    Hope this helps.

  3. If you think jobs are tuff to find in Cookeville, you or-ta try in (Dale Hollow lake area) Clay County. I haven’t had a steady job in a year. If it wasn’t for my Grandmother I would put my home up for sale and move. There again no one is buying homes around here ether.
    best of luck to ya.
